I used to workout at the local YMCA which had commercial Life Fitness recumbent bikes. The resistance goes from 0 - 20, I'd set it on 17 and cycle at 80rpm which worked out to 1000 calories/hour. Needless to say, I really worked it. So then I moved and decided to get a bike for home. I spent about $400 on a recumbent bike at Sears, set the resistance to the equivalent of half of what I'd set the Life Fitness bike to, ...

I purchased a model 2050 last summer - and it was delivered and setup by a Wash DC area (professional) vendor. The fact that I paid extra for the "infinitely adjustable seat" model may have been a mistake. It took a significant amount of time to resolve seat-slipping problems with the manufacturer, as the seat simply would not stay in place and moved forward and backwards even on the lowest resistance setting.
